POMPEIIAN DELIGHTS: NOT JUST BURNT BREAD
East End Market, 3201 Corrine Dr. Orlando
Friday, June 5, 2020, 6:30PM
$70pp; complimentary valet, BYOB
A singular evening inspired by First Century Pompeii, with multiple James Beard Award nominee
Kathleen Blake and innovative chef Jes Tantalo. Seating limited to 40 diners.
What do we know about the food of Pompeii and Imperial Rome, what did they eat, how did they eat it, and what can we take from that inspiration and go Ancient Roman wild?
Supporting, and supported by, the Orlando Science Center’s Pompeii: The Immortal City exhibit, the Pompeii’s Table project offers 16 of Orlando’s most inventive chefs, culinarians and creative artists a chance to explore the history and unique food of the Pompeiian kitchen in 79AD, and how it has become what we think of as Italian food.
Running from March to July, 2020, each of the seven dinners and events will reveal new details about life in ancient Campania; each dining experience will be a collaboration and experiment in creativity, using lists of the actual ingredients that were available in First Century Pompeii and ancient recipes of the time as a starting point for unique inspiration. You will be delighted and amazed. Buon appetito!
